Zambezi Gas and Coal Mine, a fast-growing coal mine that supplies coal to all sectors of the economy seeks to consider suitable and qualified candidates for the above-mentioned positions.
Zambezi Gas and Coal Mine is offering exciting Graduate Trainee opportunities to dedicated and ambitious young graduates to undergo an intensive 24 months in – house training program in the following discipline:
- Geology.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning geology projects (e.g. coal extraction, water pipe construction) and field sampling events
- Survey sites and create logs (e.g. borehole) and maps using GIS
- Gather and analyze geological data
- Assist in coordinating research programs
- Participate in examining the composition of samples and specimens
- Measure and test fossils, rocks, soil, ores and other material with the proper instruments (e.g. X-rays)
- Write reports on findings
- Conduct quality control on the suitability of material (e.g. metals for construction purposes) and inspect projects
- Assist in studying sites for developments, formations, hazards, and composition
- Contribute towards investigating and evaluating natural resource deposits (e.g. gas and coal)
- Consult on various geology-related issues like waste management, resource management, gas extraction techniques and more
- Ensure environmental and other regulations are met in construction and production projects (e.g. gas wells)
Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant degree from a reputable and recognized University.
- A degree class Upper second or better.
- 26 years of age or below.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
