Pharmacy/SBU’s Manager

We are looking for a Pharmacy/SBU’s Manager to oversee the operations of our pharmacy department in Bulawayo. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the pharmacy, ensuring that medications are safely and accurately dispensed to patients, and working closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Additionally, the Pharmacy/SBU’s Manager will be responsible for managing the financial performance of the pharmacy, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including staffing, scheduling, and workflow management.

  • Stock and inventory management.

  • Ensure that all medications are safely and accurately dispensed to patients, in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.

  • Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes, including providing medication therapy management services and conducting medication reconciliation.

  • Manage the financial performance of the pharmacy, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.

  • Maintain inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe, and other governing bodies.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and effective operation of the pharmacy.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to pharmacy staff, including training, coaching, and performance management.

  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers, and negotiate favourable pricing and terms.

  • Monitor and analyze pharmacy performance data, and use this information to make informed business decisions.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s or bachelor's degree in health services administration.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or accounting.

  • Must have 3 years experience working in a pharmacy, laboratory or any retail space a must.

  • Good interpersonal skills, leadership and result oriented.

  • Ability to speak local language will be an added advantage.

  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
