Transport and Logistics Clerk

Midlands State University (MSU) is a leading institution of higher learning in Zimbabwe, committed to providing quality education, research, and community service.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Transport and Logistics Clerk to join our team and contribute to the efficient management of our vehicle fleet and generators. The Transport and Logistics Clerk is responsible for ensuring the availability and proper maintenance of the organization's vehicle fleet and generators.

The successful candidate will be in charge of scheduling routine maintenance, keeping accurate records of vehicle usage, repairs, and associated costs, and submitting quarterly trend reports to the Transport Officer.

You will also be responsible for reporting accidents and thefts, preparing insurance claim forms, and ensuring that the organization's fleet is adequately fueled, licensed, and insured.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Scheduling and coordinating routine maintenance and repairs for the organization's vehicle fleet and generators

  • Maintaining accurate records of vehicle usage, repairs, and associated costs, and submitting quarterly trend reports to the Transport Officer

  • Recording and reporting accidents and thefts of the organization's vehicles, and preparing insurance claim forms

  • Ensuring that the organization's fleet is adequately fueled, licensed, and insured

  • Assisting the Transport Officer in developing the fuel budget for the organization's fleet

  • Conducting fuel audits for the organization's vehicles and generators

  • Other tasks as assigned by the Transport Officer or other relevant staff members


Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5 Ordinary Level passes, including Mathematics and English

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a large organization

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel spreadsheets and Word

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
