The Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) is a government agency responsible for regulating and monitoring public procurement activities in Zimbabwe.

The Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) is seeking two highly skilled Legal Officers to join their team.

Reporting to the Legal Manager, the Legal Officer will participate in the formulation and implementation of policies, processes, and procedures, provide technical advice and secretarial services, ensure compliance with corporate governance framework, and handle PRAZ litigation.

The Legal Officer will participate in the formulation and implementation of policies, processes, and procedures, provide technical advice and secretarial services, ensure compliance with corporate governance framework, and handle PRAZ litigation.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of policies, processes, and procedures including all legal matters in line with PRAZ's mandate

  • Participate in the provision of technical advice and provide secretarial services to PRAZ, the Board, the Review Panel, department committees, disciplinary committee, and SPOC on all legal matters

  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance framework, internal controls, and statutory regulations in line with prevailing legislation

  • Input into the development and compilation of monthly and quarterly reports on the department's performance

  • Maintain and handle PRAZ litigation

  • Appear in court to give expert evidence on procurement matters

  • Draft, assess, and review legal documents relating to the Authority's mandate

  • Conduct research, interpret laws and court decisions in relation to their impact on the Authority

  • Participate in the negotiation and resolution of contractual disputes

  • Conduct capacity building training for procuring entities and bidders on legal aspects of public procurement


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree

  • A member of the Law Society of Zimbabwe

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years working experience in a reputable organization

  • Good legislation drafting and interpretation skills
