Accounting Officer
Our client, a reputable institution in the education sector, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Officer to support various financial processes and ensure efficient budget execution, financial reporting, payments processing, cashflow/treasury monitoring, and accounts reconciliation.
The Accounting Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and providing valuable insights to support the institution's financial management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in budget planning and execution, including monitoring expenditures, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for cost control.
- Prepare financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Process payments and invoices, verifying documentation and ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Monitor cashflow and treasury activities, including cash management, forecasting, and reconciling bank statements.
- Conduct regular accounts reconciliation to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper financial procedures and controls are followed.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and other regulatory reports.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Handle payroll processing, including calculations, deductions, and statutory filings.
- Assist in the implementation and improvement of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Stay updated on accounting regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in accounting, preferably in an educational or similar setting.
- Excellent understanding of payroll processes, including calculations, deductions, and statutory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CA, CMA) is an advantage.
