Costing Clerk

We specialize in providing high-quality furniture and other home and office products. Our furniture manufacturing department, Mejeco, is committed to sourcing the best raw materials locally and internationally.
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Costing Clerk to join our team in Bulawayo. As a Costing Clerk, you will play a crucial role in accurately calculating and recording costs associated with our furniture manufacturing processes.
You will collaborate closely with the Mejeco department to ensure cost efficiency and accurate pricing of our products. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of costing principles, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent analytical skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct monthly and ad hoc stock taking and perform variance analysis.
- Compile all relevant information required for product costing and pricing.
- Verify Bills of Materials (BOMs) and job cards for accuracy.
- Track work in progress and produce accurate job costs for both completed jobs and work in progress.
- Assist in preparing weekly and monthly factory reports for material and labour usage.
- Collaborate with the design team on costing for special or custom orders.
- Perform data capturing of sales invoices in the accounting system.
- Maintain and update the supplier price list for raw materials.
- Maintain and update the price list for finished products.
- Create job cards for every new job, capturing all relevant information.
- Update job records with labour costs and materials.
- Print costing sheets for all completed jobs, compare work done against estimates, and submit variance reports.
- Reconcile the work in progress report to the General Ledger on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and issue cutting lists upon receipt of a job or order.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar position.
- Proficiency in using Pastel Accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management and costing principles.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
