Lead Product Engineer

Our client, a prominent player in the banking industry, is seeking a Lead Product Engineer to join their team in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Our client is looking for a Lead Product Engineer with expertise in AWS, Java, Spring Boot, and Angular. As a key member of the team, the Lead Product Engineer will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge software solutions within the corporate investment banking domain.

This role requires a strong understanding of high availability concepts, integration of SWIFT standards into financial systems, and proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Utilize AWS, Java, Spring Boot, and Angular to design, develop, and maintain software applications.

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of high-availability concepts to ensure robust and reliable software solutions.

  • Integrate SWIFT standards into financial systems, ensuring seamless and compliant transactions.

  • Utilize Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD practices to streamline software deployment and release processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality products.

  • Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to ensure code quality.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements for software development projects.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing timely resolutions to ensure minimal disruption.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements, incorporating innovative technologies into software development practices.

  • Mentor and guide junior team members, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in AWS, Java, Spring Boot, and Angular.

  • Solid understanding of high availability concepts and their application in software development.

  • Familiarity with SWIFT standards and their integration into financial systems.

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD practices.

  • Knowledge of Rancher, Trace Transformer, and Postgres will be highly regarded.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of delivering successful software projects within the banking or financial industry.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
