NEC Accounts Clerk
The National Employment Council for Cement and Lime and Allied Industry is inviting applications from qualified and experienced individuals who wish to fill in the following position that has fallen vacancy within the Council.
NEC Accounts Clerk
We are looking for a skilled Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, financial and office administrative and clerical tasks.
Accounting Clerk responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements. You will also run accounting software programs (e.g. SAP) to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful accounting assistant should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Keeping and maintaining the books and records of accounts of the Council.
- Production of monthly budgets, income and expenditure statements and annual budgets, financial statements and procurement of council assets inline with the procurement policy of Council.
- Assisting the General Secretary in the formulation and implementation of CAPEX and Operational expenditure budgets
- Tracking monthly remittances through production of monthly and periodic subscription statements.
- Offering guidance on cost reduction, revenue enhancement and maximization of the available funds to the benefit of the council
- Receipting all payments made to the Council and filing of proof of payments.
- Raising requisitions for all payments generated by the Council.
- Maintaining the Asset Register for the Council as well as the register for Council Customers and Suppliers.
- Ensuring that payments of all statutory obligations are compliant to the laws of the land i.e. PAYEE, Aids Levy, NSSA Remittances and Manpower Levy.
- Electronic and Manual Council Records Management.
- Maintaining adequate supplies of consumables (e.g. training aids/materials, Office teas, stationery and cleaning equipment).
- Recording minutes of all Council meetings in the absence of the usual minute taker.
- Performing such other duties which by custom or operation pertain to the Office of the Accounts Clerk from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:
- A Diploma in Accounting or its equivalence
- Computer Literacy
- Knowledge and experience of Pastel Accounting Package
- Three years experience in a similar role.
- Good analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Team player
