Reporting to the Group Risk Manager (GRM), the Risk Officer will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of ERM policies, procedures, and processes at the business unit level align with the Group's standards and internationally recognized risk management frameworks. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing risk management plans, conducting risk assessments, monitoring risk mitigation efforts, and providing insightful reports to management and board committees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the implementation of ERM policies, procedures, and processes at the business unit level conform to Group standards and internationally recognized risk management frameworks.
- Develop and implement annual risk management plans.
- Identify potential impacts of new and pending regulations on business strategies and operations, and provide recommendations to process owners.
- Conduct quantitative risk assessments, including stress testing and model validation.
- Support management in the mitigation of identified risks and monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
- Prepare ERM reports on evolving risk profiles and emerging issues for various management and board committees.
- Provide thought leadership and research on emerging risks and trends, ensuring the adoption of risk intelligence and best practices across the business.
- Champion the development of a sound risk control culture at the business unit level.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Financial Engineering, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in risk management or related roles.
- Master's degree, professional qualification, and exposure to the financial services, insurance, or medical aid environment are considered advantageous.
