Butchery/Fruit & Vegetable Supervisor

MSU is seeking a skilled and experienced Butchery/Fruit & Vegetable Supervisor to join our team. The role requires a strong focus on customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and effective team management.

The Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Butchery and Fruit & Vegetable departments, driving sales, ensuring product quality, managing inventory, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Attain set revenue and Gross Profit targets for the Butchery and Fruit & Vegetable departments.

  • Recommend and implement strategies to maximize sales while minimizing costs.

  • Implement tactics to achieve the set target for the number of products sold.

  • Engage with customers regularly to gather feedback and understand their expectations regarding product range, mix, and quality.

  • Conduct market analysis, monitor competitor activity, and provide market intelligence to store management for strategic planning.

  • Collaborate with the Buyer to ensure scientific ordering and zero stockouts on shelves and for production.

  • Work closely with the Assistant Shop Manager to maintain a visually appealing department presentation.

  • Implement strategies to minimize and manage departmental stock losses effectively.

  • Establish controls to manage shrinkage due to theft, damages, and expiry, using modern stock management methods.

  • Ensure zero departmental stockouts and maintain a product mix that satisfies customer preferences.

  • Oversee health and hygiene standards in the department, conducting regular checks to ensure compliance.

  • Monitor safety standards, identify workplace hazards, and take appropriate measures to prevent incidents.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Retail Manager to ensure staff have appropriate protective clothing/attire in the Butchery department.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate/Diploma in Retail Management or Supervisory Management from a reputable institute (an added advantage).

  • At least 3 years of experience in a retail setup, preferably in the Butchery or Fruit & Vegetable department.

  • Strong knowledge of retail operations, including inventory management, sales strategies, and customer service.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve revenue and profit targets.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding of health and hygiene standards and safety protocols.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
