Application Security Engineer/Penetration Tester

Our client is looking for an Application Security Engineer/Penetration Tester to join their team in Centurion, Gauteng. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating security risks, performing penetration tests, and ensuring the implementation of security controls.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, information security, and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Identify, implement, and maintain security tools and technologies to enhance the overall security posture of the organization.

  • Perform quarterly penetration tests on all deployed projects and collaborate with the development team to address identified vulnerabilities.

  • Administer and maintain security controls on the cloud development infrastructure, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of data.

  • Enhance automation of security controls for deployments in both Azure and on-premise environments, streamlining processes and increasing efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the development team to establish and configure security standards and policies, ensuring adherence to best practices.

  • Conduct continuous monitoring and analysis of security threats and vulnerabilities, taking proactive measures to prevent and mitigate potential risks.

  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on security-related matters, promoting a culture of security awareness and compliance.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in application security, incorporating relevant practices and technologies into the organization's processes.

  • Participate in incident response activities, investigating and resolving security incidents in a timely manner.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of security documentation, including policies, procedures, and guidelines.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in application security engineering and penetration testing.

  • Strong knowledge of security tools, technologies, and best practices.

  • Familiarity with cloud development infrastructure and security controls.

  • Proficiency in automation and scripting languages.

  • Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CEH, or OSCP, are highly desirable.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
