Accountant/Finance Officer - Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions that have arisen within the Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute.


The Institute is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.


POST: Accountant/Finance Officer


Reports to Director- Finance, Administration and Human Resources.


Duties and Responsibilities.



  • Oversees assets administration and disposal.

  • Oversees the financial management of the Institute.

  • Prepares and presents financial reports and budgets to the Director-General.

  • Approves purchase orders of the Institute;

  • Prepares and monitors the implementation of Financial, and Administration policies.

  • Manages the financial investments of the Institute.

  • Oversees the procurement of goods and services of the Institute and sits on the Procurement committee.

  • Provides financial, administrative and effective operation.

  • Supervises subordinates ie. Accounting Assistant, Executive Assistants, Information Assistant, Drivers and Security Guards.

  • Provides logistical support such as the acquisition of supplies, materials and equipment.

  • Records and Information Management.


Qualifications, Experience and Attributes



  • First degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance and/full qualification in Chartered Institute of Accountancy or Chartered Institute of Secretaries

  • A minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in Financial Management level

  • In-depth knowledge of PFMS system and Spreadsheets/Excel.

  • Ability to effectively supervise subordinates.

  • In-depth computer knowledge and skills including International Computer Driver’s Licence (ICDL) and Paynet system.

  • Ability to work under pressure or minimum supervision,

  • Ability to meet statutory deadlines

  • Efficient and effective management of Government resources

  • Effective budgetary skills and control

  • Sound knowledge on Performance pals and Results-Based Management system

  • Understanding Economic Key drivers such as NDS1 and Vision 2030 and other Government programmes.
