Carpenter - Southsea Investments

An exciting opportunity has arisen for suitably qualified and self-driven individuals in one of the leading & diversified company in Zimbabwe to fill in the position of a Carpenter. The role entails performing skilled maintenance carpentry work in the repair, alteration and maintenance of the Group’s buildings and facilities. The role requires an energetic and proactive individual with advanced carpentry and diagnostic skills.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Repair or alter buildings, wood and steel frame, brick, block wall, cast concrete structures and other structures from approved plans.

  • Build and install cabinets, counters, furniture, ceiling fixing, partitions and other fixtures.

  • Operate power equipment such as saws, jointers, lathes, sanders, planers, boring and mortising machines.

  • Making shop fronts, frames, units and fittings using a range of materials.

  • Preparing detailed and accurate design plans

  • Creating interiors for the retail shops and assisting in estimating material quantities and costs.

  • Leads and participates in Group’s furniture & fixtures continuous improvement activities.

  • Working with the Maintenance Manager on furniture purchases and installations.


The ideal person must possess the following:



  • Class 1 Journeyman/ Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery

  • At least two years’ experience in FMCG industry.

  • Advanced carpentry and diagnostic skills

  • Good working knowledge of SHE standards

  • Good interpersonal communication skills
