Director: Diplomacy, Engagement and Re-Engagement Trade and International Relations
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions that have arisen within the Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute.
The Institute is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
POST: Director – Diplomacy, Engagement and Re-Engagement Trade and International Relations
Reports to Director-General
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists and supports the Director-General in the implementation of the Institute’s training needs, goals, with particular emphasis on training and development functions;
- Prepares and coordinates training programmes, annual budgets and puts in place effective control measures;
- 3. Organises induction/introductory training courses for new Foreign Service Officers.
- 4, Plans field visits
- Facilitates the deliverance of lectures on Diplomacy and International Affairs.
- Coodinates setting and invigilation of examinations.
- Coodinates programs and projects of the various sections of the institute
- Conceptualises and formulates policy or strategic researches on Diplomacy and training.
- Undertakes in-depth studies on foreign policy, and diplomatic training needs of the Parent Ministry and other Government departments with a Foreign Service
- Organises, directs, coordinates and supervises approved diplomatic training for Foreign Services Officers;
- Markets the Institute’s training development programmes and projects
- Oversees network building through attendance in relevant conferences, symposia and meetings, and linking with agencies, institutions and individuals,
- Delivering and overseeing continuous language training, negotiation and other skills for Foreign Service officials, other Government Departments with a Foreign Service component and interested organisations.
- Supervises the drafting of speeches, writing minutes, reports and evaluation of courses conducted.
- Research on content and lecturing material;
- Compiles the Annual Training Programmes and refresher courses;
- Provide resource persons for specialised courses;
- Organises a Middle Management Programme for serving Foreign Officers and Senior Officers from Government Institutions.
- Working in close cooperation with stakeholders such as ‘the Examination Board, ZPAM and the University of Zimbabwe to develop curricula.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
- Master’s degree in Humanities, in particular Diplomacy and international Affairs;
- At least 5 years experience in Diplomatic or related field at senior management level
- Thorough knowledge of international affairs;
- Must be highly assertive;
- Ability to handle confidential information;
- Possess good leadership qualities;
- Computer literate;
- Strong leadership skills
