Director Metallurgical Processing

Our client, a prominent player in the mining sector, is on the hunt for a very experienced Director Metallurgical Processing who will be reporting to the Group CEO.

The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the Process Area operations teams at each of the mine sites to support the development and execution of processing plans in collaboration with the vision for the process areas, and to drive accountability to meet or exceed expectations in safety, production, environmental, financial, and technical performance.

In addition, you will take part in conducting feasibility studies, monthly operations reviews, quarterly operations budget update reviews and project due diligence.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Lead, direct, and support all aspects of laboratory test work covering flotation, acid and caustic cracking, leach, solvent extraction, and separation processes for a planned major rare earth recovery and separation project ;

  • Manage the overall design of process flowsheets, plant layouts, material handling systems, manpower requirements, equipment procurement and material utilization;

  • Develop and manage metallurgical operations and work practices that maximize operational efficiencies;

  • Improve plant operating performance; reduce waste and delays; promote cost reductions; and achieve a high level of operating efficiency;

  • Evaluate current and potential processing methods;

  • Monitor and analyze key metallurgical performance indicators of process operations and recommend corrective actions to the operations team;

  • Manage metallurgical and chemical engineering activities working with the operations team and external consultants;

  • Create and distribute monthly metallurgical and engineering reports;

  • Work within cross-functional teams and coach, mentor supervise and lead direct reports;

  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment


Candidates MUST POSSESS the following minimum attributes:

  • Managing a base metal refinery.

  • Experience running the whole value chain process up to concentrator level.

  • Experience running processing up to smelter level.

  • Currently reporting to CEO or to a director.

  • Not more than 50 years old.

  • Zimbabwean in the diaspora willing to return home.


Remuneration

  • Highly negotiable package.
