Farm Manager

Brighton Piggery is searching for a manager with good business sense to join our team and manage a new piggery with a 300-sow head.

As the farm manager, you will oversee the management of pigs at our piggery/swine production facility. Your duties and responsibilities are to monitor and implement daily operations, ensuring that the pigs are being cared for. This includes seeing that the animals are fed and the living situation of the herd complies with all federal and state agricultural safety regulations.

You are also responsible for hiring and training new staff and directing them to carry out operations as needed. You will maintain property inventory, purchase feed and other supplies as needed, and oversee the maintenance of all equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Supervise farm activity

  • Write and enforce biosecurity plans

  • Monitor and follow-up on every aspect of animal productivity.

  • Stay up to date on innovations and research within the industry.

  • Monitor animal health and behavior

  • Work with veterinarian to determine treatment of sick/injured animals

  • Order and arrange shipment for feed

  • Daily interaction with the animals to ensure animal well-being

  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness and conformance to policies and procedures

  • Prepare, review, and complete reports including weekly production reports, action reports supply orders, maintenance reports, feed orders, and employee time cards

  • Tour all farm departments daily with supervisors.

  • Administer and participate in the company safety program

  • Monitor ventilation and water availability in all barns


Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture majoring in Animal husbandry.

  • 3 years of working experience at a managerial level at a pig farm.

  • Must be mature and an excellent communicator
