Accounts Clerk

Chita One Logistics, a growing and thriving logistics and transportation company in Zimbabwe that offers a wide range of services, including freight forwarding, customs clearance, and warehousing, is seeking an Accounts Clerk to join their finance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's accounts payable and receivable functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supervising all POD tracking, collection from drivers and invoice clients immediately upon receiving them.

  • Calculating the tax returns (VAT) and initiating payment for the same taxes as well as PAYEE, NSSA, ZIMDEF.

  • Monitoring the cash book, petty cash and preparing bank reconciliation statements that should be signed and reviewed by the Managing Director.

  • Preparing debtors and creditors reconciliation.

  • Performing inventory valuation of workshop consumables to ascertain the value of inventory periodically and prepare monthly financial statements.

  • Reconciling daily, weekly, monthly and yearly financial transactions.

  • Capturing books of original entry in the General Ledger and initiating financial journals which will be used as input in running the monthly financial statements.

  • Ensuring proper filing of all accounting records.

  • Raising of all payment vouchers and facilitating payments.

  • Performing all other duties as required.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of a degree in Accounting or equivalent.

  • Professional qualification in or towards ACCA, CTA or CIMA is an added advantage.

  • Good knowledge of Quickbooks & ASYCUDA System is a prerequisite.

  • At least 2 years of experience in the same role preferably in the Transport and Logistics Industry.

  • Must be mature and able to work under pressure with little or no supervision

  • A clean Class 4 driver’s licence is an added advantage
