Corporate Services Director

Tel One is a leading telecommunications service provider in Zimbabwe, offering a wide range of services to residential, business, and government customers. Tel One's services include voice, data, and internet services, as well as value-added services such as cloud computing, managed services, and digital TV.

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Services Director to lead our corporate functions, drive innovation, and ensure the delivery of high-quality corporate services to our internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Corporate Services Director will be responsible for driving productivity results, spurring growth in the company's business units, and increasing overall business performance.

The role involves leading the development and implementation of TelOne's corporate services strategy, managing the company's asset portfolio, overseeing learning and development programs, and managing human capital.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to overall company strategy and policy-making by advising management and the Board on the strategic implications of Human Resources decisions.

  • Provide leadership that aligns with the company’s business plan and overall strategic vision.

  • Formulate strategic plans for the division by setting out the department’s vision, mission, and objectives.

  • Plan and direct all aspects of technical activities and ensure all projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization’s objectives and policy frameworks.

  • Monitor key metrics to ensure that budgeted deliverables and key performance indicators are met.

  • Develop strategy, processes, and standards for all HR pillars including resourcing, manpower planning, and contracting with vendors to ensure efficient implementation of the HR mandate.

  • Provide strategic planning and implementation of the High-Performance Culture within the organization.

  • Administer TelOne Insurance portfolio by agreeing to levels of coverage, premiums, payment plans, and other insurance terms with insurance brokers.

  • Review insurance portfolio quarterly and implement measures that ensure it fully protects the company against all forms of risks.

  • Negotiate and manage insurance contracts with appointed insurance brokers.

  • Formulate policies on the provision of transport services for TelOne that includes procurement and disposal.

  • Negotiate maintenance contracts for the refurbishment and maintenance of all company properties company-wide.

  • Formulate agreements for the disposal and acquisition of properties and operations vehicles in line with TelOne policies.

  • Manage vehicle fleet for operational use and ensure quick turnaround times on repairs and maintenance.

  • Formulate asset base strategies that exploit opportunities given available strengths and propose mitigatory measures for weaknesses and threats identified.

  • Direct TelOne Centre for Learning (TCFL) strategic operations and position the institution as a strategic TelOne and National Human Capital Development Centre.

  • Design and implement TelOne Talent and Organizational Development strategy.

  • Plan and direct employee training and development programs.

  • Develop training programs that match individuals’ goals to the organization’s strategic intent through career path planning and succession planning on an ongoing basis.

  • Ensure all employee performance programs have appropriate learning & development activities attached.

  • Design, implement, and enforce the correct culture model for the organization.

  • Develop a performance management framework to ensure that all TelOne employees deliver against performance indicators and service standards.

  • Engage and introduce actions that redesign organizational structures, processes, and systems.

  • Cascade performance objectives to all subordinates and review performance to meet key business objectives of revenue generation, revenue retention, profitability, and customer satisfaction as and when necessary.

  • Challenge existing business frameworks and assumptions to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Drive change through understanding key internal and external stakeholders, changing business environment, and key market drivers.

  • Take a leading role in maintaining client satisfaction in ensuring service standards are achieved and exceeded.

  • Build teams and identify champions to energize and reinforce desired change.

  • Undertake all aspects of people management and development including monitoring and addressing performance standards.

  • Recruit and select key and strategic team players.

  • Undertake people management-related activities in accordance with TelOne’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures.


Qualifications / Experience:

  • Social Science/ Business Management Degree or equivalent.

  • Post Graduate qualification MBA /MBL is an added advantage.

  • 8 years’ hands-on experience at the Senior Management Level with at least 3 years in the ICT environment.
