Patrol Officer/Class 2 Driver

A leading vehicle towing, repairs, road assistance and insurance organization is seeking a Patrol Officer/Class 2 Driver based in Harare, Zimbabwe.

This hands-on role is responsible for providing towing and recovery services to members and customers requiring roadside assistance. This Patrol Officer/Class 2 Driver position is an essential frontline role responsible for rendering roadside assistance and towing services to customers in need.

The successful candidate will drive and operate recovery vehicles to broken-down locations, assessing issues and transporting vehicles to workshops or dealerships. In addition to towing duties, administrative and facility upkeep tasks are also required to support daily operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Safely operate recovery vehicles and other utility vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.

  • Provide efficient and timely pick-up and drop-off services for staff members within designated areas.

  • Perform regular cleaning and general maintenance tasks on tow trucks to ensure cleanliness and optimal functionality.

  • Refuel tow trucks as required, maintaining an adequate fuel level for uninterrupted service.

  • Respond promptly to breakdown calls from both members and non-members, providing roadside assistance and towing services as needed.

  • Document and report any faults or mechanical issues with tow trucks to the management team for immediate attention and resolution.

  • Maintain accurate records of services rendered, including mileage, fuel consumption, and service schedules.

  • Assist in training new Patrol Officers on proper vehicle operation, safety procedures, and customer service protocols.

  • Conduct regular inspections of tow trucks to identify and address any maintenance or repair needs.

  • Collaborate with the management team to improve operational efficiency and service quality.


Requirements:

  • Valid Class 2 driver's license with a minimum of 5 years of experience

  • Minimum O-Levels including English and Maths

  • Valid defensive driving and medical certificates

  • 1-2 years of towing experience using a low-bed truck

  • Basic mechanical skills and understanding of vehicle operations

  • Age between 25-35 years

  • Willingness to work shifts including weekends and public holidays

  • At least 3 positive references from previous employers

  • Innovative, goal-oriented with excellent communication and presentation skills
