Lathe Operator

Our client, a thriving company in the Transport and Logistics sector, is seeking a skilled Lathe Operator to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience as a Lathe Operator and is either apprenticeship trained or holds a Class 1 machinist qualification.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Set up and operate lathe machines to perform precision machining and turning operations.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.

  • Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, and materials for each job.

  • Load and unload workpieces onto the lathe machine and secure them properly.

  • Adjust machine controls and tool offsets to ensure accurate dimensions and smooth operation.

  • Monitor machining process, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the lathe machine to ensure optimal performance.

  • Inspect finished products for quality, making any necessary adjustments or repairs.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Lathe Operator in a relevant industry.

  • Apprenticeship training in machining or a recognized Class 1 machinist qualification.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.

  • Strong knowledge of lathe machine operation and tooling techniques.

  • Ability to work with precision, attention to detail, and adherence to quality standards.

  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues.

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to work in a safe manner.
