Sandawana Mines is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our organization. Reporting to the Mine Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the business by ensuring optimum plant availability.

This includes developing and implementing maintenance schedules, providing technical engineering support, optimizing operations through equipment design, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement planned maintenance schedules for plant equipment.

  • Provide technical engineering support to operations, identifying and addressing potential downtime situations.

  • Advise management on conditions that may result in downtime and recommend necessary remedial actions.

  • Design plant and equipment modifications to improve operational efficiencies.

  • Manage projects aimed at optimizing operations and enhancing productivity.

  • Ensure contractor compliance with established standards and procedures.

  • Prepare technical reports related to maintenance, modifications, and improvements.

  • Maintain adequate levels of critical spares and consumables required for smooth operations.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Possession of a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related qualification.

  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in a mining environment.

  • Experience working with mobile equipment and crushing plants.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Proficient in report writing.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Experience in working with SHEQ systems.
