Children's & Young Families Pastor

Our client, a prominent religious organization in the community, is seeking applications for an experienced Children's & Young Families Pastor in Johannesburg. The church is dedicated to providing pastoral care and support to children and young families, emphasizing Methodist theology and ethos.

With a focus on one-on-one pastoral meetings, workshops, and family connections, the church strives to create a nurturing environment for children and their families.

Our client is looking for a dynamic and inspiring Children's & Young Families Pastor to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and developing the Children and Young Family's Ministry, fostering a deep love and connection with children while adhering to Methodist theology and ethos.

You will actively engage with various types of families and work towards achieving the mission objectives of the society through ministerial and administrative activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Holistically lead and develop the Children and Young Family's Ministry, ensuring its alignment with the church's mission and values.

  • Run the Friday night junior-youth program (grades 0-7), creating a safe and engaging environment for children to learn and grow.

  • Plan and prepare age-appropriate lessons for Children's Church on Sunday mornings, fostering spiritual growth and understanding.

  • Build and coordinate a dedicated volunteer team to support and enhance ministry activities, providing guidance and training as needed.

  • Chair quarterly portfolio meetings to collaborate, strategize, and evaluate the progress of the Children and Young Family's Ministry.

  • Organize and facilitate annual events, such as the Holiday Club during Easter holidays, to provide enriching experiences for children and families.

  • Contribute to Family Services, incorporating elements that resonate with children and young families, promoting their active participation.

  • Assist in planning and organizing camps, creating memorable experiences that promote fellowship, growth, and spiritual development.

  • Develop and facilitate workshops for families, addressing relevant topics and providing resources to support their journey.

  • Participate in other worship services and activities, actively engaging with the church community and fostering a sense of belonging for children and families.

  • Collaborate with other church ministries and leaders to ensure a cohesive approach to holistic family ministry.

  • Provide pastoral care and support to children and their families, offering guidance, counseling, and prayer when needed.


Desired Experience and Qualification:

  • Part-time position, requiring 25 hours per week on-site.

  • Chair quarterly portfolio meetings.

  • Organize and oversee the Friday night junior-youth program (grades 0-7).

  • Lead and facilitate Children's Church on Sunday mornings (grades 0-7).

  • Conduct volunteer training sessions.

  • Coordinate the annual Holiday Club during Easter holidays.

  • Contribute to Family Services.

  • Assist in planning and organizing camps.

  • Facilitate workshops for families.

  • Participate in other worship services and activities.
